What every family should know about Xylitol:
Cavities Don't Just Happen!
Bacteria produce acid from the sugars and starches you eat. This acid eats away at your teeth, causing cavities.

Brushing & Flossing Aren't Enough
Brushing and flossing only do so much. They help remove plaque from your teeth but they don't kill cavity-causing bacteria, so you still get cavities.

Xylitol Reduces Bacteria
Delecta contains xylitol a natural sweetner proven to reduce cavity-causing bacteria. Fewer bacteria mean fewer cavities. Studies show that as little as 6 grams of xylitol a day can reduce cavities by more than 80%.

Use 6 Grams of Xylitol every day to effectively fight acid-producing bacteria, you need 2 grams of xylitol 3 times daily. Delecta sweetener and Epic gum make it easy for you to get your 6 grams.

You'll Feel The Difference!
Eliminating the bacteria in your mouth makes your teeth feel different. Use xylitol every day and your teeth will feel smooth, glossy and clean like you've just visited the dentist.

Dosage:6 to 10 grams a day is enough for remineralizing teeth. About 40 grams is recommended for remineralizing bones.

Important: New users should start using Xylitol in small quantities of 5 grams per day for the first week, and step up gradually thereafter to the full dosage.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT GIVE ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING XYLITOL TO DOGS. IT CAN BE FATAL

XYLITOL - GOOD FOR PEOPLE, BAD FOR DOGS

What Happens to Dogs?
While Xylitol does not require insulin for metabolism, Xylitol triggers insulin production in dogs. The excess insulin causes normal blood sugar levels to drop rapidly (hypoglycemia). Clinical signs of Xylitol toxicity include depression, vomiting, imbalance, weakness, or depression. Seizures may result. Xylitol ingestion has also been associated with liver failure in dogs.

How is Xylitol Different in Humans than Dogs? Physiology of the human body is different from dogs. In humans, xylitol is absorbed slowly and has little to no effect on blood sugar or insulin levels. However, in dogs, xylitol is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. It then acts as a strong promoter of insulin release, which causes profound hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). In dogs, xylitol can also cause liver failure, bleeding, and death.

Xylitol and Humans: Xylitol for human consumption have a number of health benefits including discouraging tooth decay, reducing plaque, avoiding sugar spikes, preventing osteoporosis, and even preventing ear infections. Dentists across the U.S. have been recommending Xylitol products.

What Pet Owners Should Do: While you may think of a Xylitol product as a tasty treat while it is in your mouth, think of it as a pet poison while it is on your counter or in your purse. Always keep products containing Xylitol well out of reach of your pets (preferably in drawers, top pantry shelves, or medicine cabinets). The standard recommendation is never to feed your pet products containing Xylitol.
