Q: Is curd not a good probiotic? Will that not suffice?

Ans:Curd contains limited strains of bacteria: the classic yogurt culture is characterized by a protosymbiosis between Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. Bulgaricus. Further, there is no guarantee that these bacteria will reach the intestine in sufficient numbers to confer a health benefit.
